The 152nd Open is set to take place at Royal Troon between 14th and 21st of July, 2024.

Traffic Scotland expects that their may be an influx of traffic on the A77, A78, as well as local roads, to and from the venue.

A traffic management plan including temporary road layout changes is to take effect from Wednesday 10 July ahead of The 152nd Open at Royal Troon, which is being held from 14-21 July. The plan has been developed by Amey, Ayrshire Roads Alliance, Police Scotland, The R&A and Transport Scotland in anticipation of tens of thousands of fans who are expected to attend the Championship.

Those travelling to Troon are being encouraged to consider using enhanced public transport services via train and bus or car share with others to minimise road traffic congestion. There will be no public car parking available at Royal Troon or in the immediate surrounding area. All public parking will be provided at managed Park & Ride sites, with the exception of pre-booked Blue Badge parking. You can find out about transportation options on The Open's site.

Further information for local residents and businesses can be found at www.trooninfo2024.com by clicking the ‘Community Information’ button.

More details

To facilitate the increased number of vehicles expected to travel to Troon via the A77, A78 and A79, a temporary realignment of the Dutch House and Monktonhead roundabouts will be implemented.

The current dedicated left filter lanes from the A77 South towards Ayr and the A79 North towards Irvine will be removed to prioritise traffic flow and facilitate vehicles moving towards and away from Troon. All motorists travelling through these junctions during the week of The Open are advised to allow additional time for their journey.

Works to adjust the layout of the two roundabouts will take place overnight from 20:00 on Wednesday 10 July to 05:00 on Thursday 11 July, with the following night held as a contingency working timeslot in case the works are delayed due to inclement weather.

Once the work has been completed, motorists should expect to see signs advising of the new road layout, with cones to designate the temporary lanes prior to and around the roundabout.

Police Scotland Road Policing officers will be deployed at the Dutch House and Monktonhead roundabouts during the week of The Open to direct and manage the flow of traffic through the junctions at peak times. When police officers are not on duty to direct traffic, motorists must follow the temporary signage and cones.

Following The Open, work to reinstate the roundabouts to their former layout will take place overnight from 20:00 on Tuesday 23 July until 05:00 on Wednesday 24 July, with the following night held as a contingency working timeslot in case the works are delayed due to inclement weather.
