A737 Beith | Resurfacing

26th of January 2025, 8:00pm to 1st of February 2025, 6:00am

UPDATE (24/01/25): Please be advised that kerbing works on the A737 in Beith will now be carried out between 8am on Saturday 25th January and 6pm on Sunday 26th January under Temporary Traffic Lights.

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing and kerbing works on the A737 between Roebank Road and Clerksbridge Toll Roundabout in Beith from Sunday 26th January until Saturday 1st February 2025.

On Sunday 26th January and Monday 27th January, there will be kerbing works carried out under Temporary Traffic Lights between the hours of 9.30am and 4pm each day.

Resurfacing works will take place under closures of the A737 between 8pm and 6am each night between Monday 27th January and Thursday 30th January, with traffic management removed by 6am on Saturday 1st February.

Signed diversions will operate as follows:

  • Southbound traffic will leave the A737 at the B787 at Howwood, following Main Street, Beith Road, Thornbrae, Thornhill and Main Road at Johnstone to the roundabout at Linwood Road. Traffic will then take the second exit onto the A761 and continue onto Ferguslie, George Street, Canal Street and Gordon Street at Paisley before turning right onto the A726 and continuing on Lonend, Barrhead Road, Hurlet Road and Nitshill Road. At the junction with the A736 Barrhead Road traffic will turn left and continue onto the B762 Barrhead Road, crossing over the M77 and turning right onto Boydstone Road then right onto Kennishead Road, following to Nitshill Road. Traffic will then turn right into Nitshill Road and immediately left onto the B773 Parkhouse Road, continuing to Darnley Road and taking the second exit at the roundabout onto the A736 Main Street and continuing onto Lochlibo Road through Neilston and Uplawmoor to the junction with the B777 at Lugton. Traffic will then turn right onto the B777 and follow through Gateside onto Main Street and Wardrop Street to re-join the A737.
  • Northbound traffic will follow the above route in reverse.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

The safety of our workforce, the site, and the travelling public is of utmost importance when planning road maintenance. A convoy system cannot be implemented during this scheme due to available road widths, which fall below the legal requirements to ensure the safety of road users and road workers. The absolute minimum width required for convoy working is 7.3 metres as per Chapter 8 Traffic Management Regulations. A closure of the A737 trunk road is also required due to the depth of treatment being carried out.

Amey do not tolerate any threats, abuse, or reckless behaviour that poses a risk to the workforce or the travelling public. Any evidence of such incidents recorded via roadside camera, body camera, or other device may be provided to the relevant authorities in such cases.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
