A8 Greenock Road by Network Rail | Survey Works
Network Rail is reminding residents and motorists of a road closure scheduled to take place at the in Langbank. There will be five nights of closures from the beginning of December till the end of March.
As part of a commitment to providing a safe and reliable railway, engineers will be conducting a structural survey of the railway bridge (named A8, Greenock Road) on the following nights:
22:00hrs on Friday 28th February until 06:00hrs on Saturday 1st March.
This will involve closure of the Eastbound Carriageway only.
Signage will be in place ahead of the road closure with a diversion route in place via the A761 Clune
Brae towards Johnstone, onto A737 N/Bound towards M8 JCN 29 St James Interchange.
Coneworx on behalf of Network Rail will manage the closed section of road and will put out warning signs in advance of the closure and diversion signs out during it.
Darren Dickson, Project Manager for Network Rail, said: “The work we’re undertaking will provide
vital information on the condition of this railway bridge is crucial for the long-term future reliability of the line.
“Working on the railway at night offers the safest environment for our teams and causes the least disruption to our passengers and freight trains. However, we understand the inconvenience this work will cause some people.
“We would like to thank those affected for their patience and understanding and offer assurances that every effort has been made to reduce the impact of our activities as much as possible.”
