A8 Port Glasgow | Footway Improvements

Newark Roundabout and Comet Roundabout in Port Glasgow
6th of April 2025, 12:00am to 18th of May 2025, 11:59pm

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential footway improvements on the A8 westbound between Newark Roundabout and Comet Roundabout in Port Glasgow, from Sunday 6th April until Sunday 18th May 2025 under a single lane closure in three phases as follows:

Phase 1: Sunday 6th April – Thursday 17th April 2025.
Please be advised that this traffic management will be removed on Thursday 17th April and be reinstated on Monday 28th April to accommodate the Easter holidays.

Phase 2: Monday 28th April – Wednesday 7th May 2025.

Phase 3: Wednesday 7th May – Sunday 18th May 2025.

Please be advised that the eastbound A8 carriageway will be unaffected.

To mitigate disruption, road users are encouraged to travel at off-peak times and seek alternative routes or modes of transport.

These works, represent an investment of around £250,000 in the trunk road infrastructure in Inverclyde, and will improve the condition of the footways at this location for the benefit of pedestrians and other road users.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
