BEAR Scotland, operating on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to carry out surfacing improvements on sections of the A82 between Tyndrum and Glencoe, at Auch and Rannoch Moor.

These improvements will involve resurfacing the road to make it more durable and resilient against inclement weather, as well as refreshing road markings.

Works will begin on Sunday 16 February and are due to be completed by the morning of Wednesday 5 March. Works will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 5am each night. Outwith these hours traffic management will be removed however, a 30mph speed limit will remain in place, as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface
In order to protect the workforce and the travelling public, the A82 will be closed in both directions each night between 7pm and 5am. During periods of closure, amnesties at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12pm, 2am and 4am will allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site.

Access for emergency services and scheduled bus services will be maintained for the full duration of  the works. An alternative route is also available via the A85 and A828 for those who do not wish to wait for amnesty.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users. The refreshed road markings will also improve visibility to enhance road safety.

“We thank motorists for their patience ahead of these road improvements.”
