A828 North of Appin | Overnight Resurfacing

Appin
19th of January 2025, 7:00pm to 5th of February 2025, 6:00am

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will begin surfacing improvements on the A828 north of Appin from Sunday 19 January.

The works are required to address deteriorating road surface conditions here as well as improve road markings. Road users will benefit from an improved road surface, which is more durable and resilient against inclement weather.

Weather permitting, these overnight works are due to start on Sunday 19 January until the morning of Wednesday 5 February, with no works taking place on Friday or Saturday nights.

Works will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 6am each night. Outwith these hours, traffic management will be removed however, a 30mph speed limit will remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.

To protect the workforce and road users, the carriageway will be closed in both directions during working hours. Amnesties at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12pm, 2am and 4am will allow waiting vehicles to be escorted safely through the site. Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential surfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users as well as upgrading road markings to enhance visibility. We thank road users for their patience ahead of these road improvements.”
