A85 Methven to Gilmerton | Drainage Works

Updated 6 December 2024 – Works at A85 between Methven and Gilmerton have taken longer than anticipated, requiring two extra weeks of works. To limit further disruption to road users works have been moved to nighttime.

Regrettably the works have taken longer than anticipated and will require an additional ten shifts to complete. We will however be able to move the remaining operations to nighttime working to reduce the impact to the travelling public from Sunday 8 December.

Works will now take place between 7:30pm and 6:00am until completion on Friday 20 December.

Updated 22 November 2024 – Works at A85 between Methven and Gilmerton were postponed on the 17/10/24. Works have now been rescheduled and now take place on Monday 25 November until Friday 6 December.

UPDATE (06/11/24): Due to reprogramming of the works schedule, drainage works on the A85 between Methven and Gilmerton have been postponed.

 

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to carry out essential drainage improvements at Burnbrae Garage on the A85, between Methven and Gilmerton, from Monday 14 October.

These works involve constructing a new piped system to improve drainage in the surrounding area. Works will take place between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm, and will be completed on Thursday 31 October.

Two-way temporary traffic lights will be in place to protect road users and the workforce.

Access through the worksite for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s Northwest Unit Representative said; “These drainage improvements on the A85 are essential to improving the surrounding drainage system.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete these works.

“We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
