UPDATE (04/12/24): Due to low temperatures causing delays in the programme, surfacing works on the A87 north of Broadford have been cancelled. Works will be rescheduled in early 2025.
Road users travelling on the A87 will benefit from an improved road surface as BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, get set to carry out resurfacing works on the A87 north of Broadford from Wednesday 4 December.
Works will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 7am each night. Out with these hours traffic management will be removed however, a 30mph speed limit will remain in place, as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.
Due to restricted road widths through this section of the A87, the road will be closed in both directions each night. During periods of closure, amnesties will be offered at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 2am and 4am to allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site safely. Emergency service vehicles will able to pass through the site throughout the working period.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface and road markings, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users.
“We thank motorists for their patience ahead of these road improvements.”
