A9 Dualling Tomatin to Moy | Significant Temporary Traffic Management Measures Including 40MPH Speed Limit

Work to install significant temporary traffic management measures on the A9 between Tomatin and Moy will commence on Monday 10 March 2025, ahead of major construction works starting.

These measures include operation of a temporary 40mph speed limit which will be in place from Monday 10 March 2025 and is expected to remain in place until the dualling becomes operational in Spring 2028. Following this, measures will be gradually installed to narrow the running lanes, with temporary safety cameras also being introduced to encourage compliance with the reduced speed limit of 40mph through the works area.

The temporary traffic management measures are necessary to ensure the safety of road users and the workforce.

To allow the safe installation of temporary barriers to narrow lanes and create working space, temporary traffic signals and convoy working will also be in place from 10 March for approximately 10 nights between 1930 and 0600 from Sunday evening to Saturday morning, with no works on Saturday nights.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times, and public transportation links will remain active along the route, with bus stops remaining in use both northbound and southbound at Tomatin Junction. Road users should note that during the operation of these measures laybys on the project corridor will be closed to the public, with specific laybys being available to vehicles carrying large loads.
