A9 South of Drumochter | Single Carriageway Improvements
Updated 28 January 2025: Due to changes in the programme of works, overnight surfacing improvements on the A9 South of Drumochter will now start on Thursday 6 February.
BEAR Scotland, the North West trunk road operating company working on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to start essential overnight surfacing improvements on the A9 single carriageway between the Dalnamein Junction and the southern end of the Drumochter duals in two phases.
Phase one - A9 North of Dalnamein Junction:
Surfacing improvements on the single carriageway section north of the Dalnamein Junction will start at 7pm on Tuesday 4 February with phase one works scheduled to be completed by 6am on Wednesday 12 February.
Phase two - A9 South of Drumochter Duals:
RSurfacing improvements on the single carriageway section as it transitions to and from the dual carriageway south of the Drumochter Duals will begin at 7pm on Wednesday 12 February with all works due to be completed by 6am on the morning of Saturday 15 March.
To ensure the safety of both workers and road users, temporary traffic lights will be in place during working hours, 7pm to 6am, with a convoy system to escort traffic through the work site safely.
All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours and access for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

“Our teams are committed to executing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority. We thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.
“To minimise delays, we recommend that road users plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
