Work to install new vehicle safety barriers underneath two further overbridges on the A92 between Lochgelly and Kirkcaldy will take place from Sunday 14th July to Thursday 15th August.

The works, which Amey is undertaking on behalf of Transport Scotland, are part of a £480,000 project delivering road safety improvements on the A92.

New barriers are currently being installed under the A92 overbridge near Westerton Farm, approximately 1km west of the B9149 Lochgelly junction. This is due to be completed by Friday 12th July.

Further work is scheduled to take place to upgrade the barrier restraint system on the A92 at the following locations from Sunday 14th July.

Location 1 - From Sunday 14th July to Thursday 1st August, work will take place on the A92 overbridge near Cardenden.

Location 2 - From Sunday 14th July to Thursday 15th August, work will also take place between the off and on slips at the A92 Chapel Junction at Kirkcaldy.

These works are being carried out concurrently to minimise long term disruption to the travelling public.

Traffic Management

Work to upgrade the barrier restraint system on both sections will take place overnight from Sunday to Thursday each week between 7.30pm and 6.30am

For both scheme locations, work will take place under Lane 1 closures on both the east and west A92 carriageways. There will also be the need for occasional overnight convoy working to install and remove temporary barriers.

The off and on slips at A92 Chapel Junction will remain open during the works.

The lane closures will be lifted each morning at 6.30am before being put back in place each night at 7.30pm.

These upgrades will benefit more than 50,000 vehicles who use this route each day.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
