All lanes on the A90 Glencarse overbridge between Perth and Dundee to reopen Saturday 21st December
Work to reopen all lanes on the A90 at Glencarse between Perth and Dundee has begun following the successful completion of complex repair work on Glencarse Overbridge.
Both A90 carriageways north and southbound, and the local road on the bridge itself, are scheduled to be fully reopened on the morning of Saturday 21st December, in advance of the busy festive holiday period.
The A90 has been operating under a contraflow at Glencarse Overbridge since Thursday 10th October to allow repairs to be undertaken on the accident damaged A90 Glencarse Overbridge.
The structure endured significant structural damage when struck by a vehicle in March 2023, requiring an extensive programme of complex repairs to bring the bridge back into safe working order for all road users.
The work undertaken over the past two months, through repairs to a buckled primary deck element, helped reinstate the bridge's load-carrying capacity and allow the local road on the bridge to fully reopen to traffic.
Work included installation of temporary propping to allow cutting out and replacement of the damaged section of steel beam, concrete repairs to the surrounding area of the bridge deck, and replacement of the damaged bearing which supports the beam.
Amey also took the opportunity to carry out additional maintenance work at this location while the traffic management was in place, including bearing replacement on the south support and repainting work, thus avoiding the need to close the A90 again for such maintenance in the near future.
Amey would like to thank road users and the local community for their patience while this work was carried out.
