M74 Hamilton Interchange | Woodland Management
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is continuing to undertake essential woodland management works on the M74 at Junction 6 (Hamilton Interchange). This is continuation of work that began in November 2024 and is due to completed on Sunday 2nd March 2025.
Single lane closure of the M74 northbound on-slip from Hamilton between 6am and 8pm on Saturday 8th February. Ramp remains open but with reduced capacity.
Total closures of both northbound and southbound on and off-slips from Motherwell between the hours of 6am and 8pm on both Saturday 15th February and Sunday 16th February 2025.
Traffic for these slip roads will be diverted along the A723 to Hamilton Palace Roundabout where they will be able to join the north and southbound carriageways at Hamilton. Out with these dates, single lane closures will be in operation until the end of the works.
There will then be further closures of the M74 northbound off-slips at Hamilton and Motherwell on both Saturday 1st March and Sunday 2nd March between 6am and 8pm each day. Traffic will be directed to leave the M74 northbound via Junction 5 Raith Interchange and following the M74 Southbound to use the Southbound off-slips at Junction 6.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
