Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential overnight bridge expansion joint replacements and resurfacing works on the M8 between Junctions 24 (Helen Street) and 25 (Clyde Tunnel) from Sunday 7th April until Friday 3rd May. This work will take place between 8pm and 6am each weeknight. This is a continuation of previously delayed works at this location.

These works will be undertaken under total overnight road closures and the signed diversions will operate as follows:

  • M8 Westbound Junction 23:  Traffic will leave the M8 secondary carriageway at the Junction 23 off-slip, turn right on to Dumbreck Road and left on to Paisley Road West. At the roundabout, traffic will take the first exit to continue along Paisley Road West, turn right on to Berryknowes Road and continue to Cardonald Interchange, where traffic will be able to return to the M8 westbound via the Junction 25 on-slip.

  • M8 Westbound Junction 24:  Westbound traffic will exit the M8 via the Junction 24 off-slip and turn left on to Helen Street. At the roundabout, traffic will take the second exit to Paisley Road West and turn right on to Berryknowes Road, before continuing on to Cardonald Interchange, where traffic will be able to re-join the M8 westbound via the Junction 25 on-slip.

  • M8 Eastbound:  Eastbound traffic will exit the M8 via the Junction 26 off-slip to Hillington roundabout and take the first exit on to the A739 to Hillington. At the next roundabout, traffic will take the third exit on to Renfrew Road, continue to the next roundabout and then take the third exit onto Shieldhall Road. Traffic will continue on Shieldhall Road and Edmiston Drive to the roundabout at Helen Street and take the third exit on to Helen Street, where traffic will be able to return to the M8 Eastbound via the Junction 24 on-slip.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

This scheme will benefit around 127,000 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition and safety of the carriageway structures and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
