M8 Junction 29 | Resurfacing Work

3rd of March 2025, 8:00pm to 5th of March 2025, 6:00am

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the M8 eastbound at Junction 29, including the off-slip road, for two nights on Monday 3rd March and Tuesday 4th March 2025 between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night.

This work, which will complete improvements from January 2025 affected by adverse weather, will require overnight road closures in this location as follows:

Closure of the eastbound M8 between Junctions 30 and 29, including a closure of the Junction 30 eastbound on slip road, the Junction 29A eastbound on slip road and the Junction 29 eastbound off slip road between 8pm on Monday 3rd March and 6am on Tuesday 4th March.

Diversions will be in place –

  • Eastbound M8 traffic will exit at Junction 30, taking the M898 and leaving to follow the A726 through Erskine and continuing to re-join the M8 at Junction 29 St James Interchange.
  • Southbound traffic from the A898 Erskine Bridge for the eastbound M8 will exit after the bridge onto the A726 and follow the above diversion.
  • Traffic wishing to join the M8 eastbound at Junction 29A will head east on Greenock Road and join the A726 southbound at Red Smiddy Roundabout to follow the above diversion.
  • Closure of the M8 Junction 29 eastbound off slip road and a lane closure on the mainline eastbound M8 between Junctions 29A and 29, between 8pm on Tuesday 4th March and 6am on Wednesday 5th March.

Traffic wishing to leave the M8 at Junction 29 will exit at Junction 27 and follow Renfrew Road to return to the westbound M8 and leave at Junction 29 westbound.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
