19th of December 2024, 10:00pm to 24th of December 2024, 6:00am

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential traffic loop installation on the M8 at the Junction 10 eastbound off-slip, the M8 eastbound carriageway between Junctions 14 and 13, and the M8 westbound at Junction 26 to the Hillington Footbridge. This work will be carried out between Thursday 19th December and Tuesday 24th December 2024 between the hours of 10pm and 6am each night.

This work will take place in three phases as follows:

Phase 1: Works are planned to take place under overnight closures of the eastbound M8 slip road at Junction 10 between 11pm on Thursday 19th December and 6am on Friday 20th December. Traffic will be directed to continue on the M8 eastbound and exit at Junction 9 to follow Easterhouse Road and return to the M8 westbound to exit the motorway at Junction 10.

Phase 2: Works are planned to take place under overnight closures of the eastbound M8 between Junctions 14 and 13 between 10pm and 6am each night on Friday 20th December and Saturday 21st December. Traffic management will be removed by 6am on Sunday 22nd December. Traffic will be diverted off the motorway at Junction 14, turning left onto Viewpark Avenue and right onto Blochairn Road to re-join the M8 at Junction 13 or join the M80. In addition, there will be two slip road closures:

  • Closure of the M8 Junction 15 eastbound on slip road from Castle Street. Traffic will be diverted north to follow Royston Road and Blochairn Road east to join the M8 at Junction 13 or the M80.
  • Closure of the M8 Junction 15 eastbound on slip road from Stirling Road. Traffic will be diverted north on the A803, turning left onto the A804 Royston Road and following onto Blochairn Road eastbound to join the M8 at Junction 13 or the M80.

Phase 3: Works are planned to take place under overnight closures of the westbound M8 at Junction 26 between 10pm and 6am each night, on Sunday 22nd and Monday 23rd December with traffic management removed by 6am on Tuesday 24th December. Westbound traffic will exit the M8 at Junction 26 and take the third exit at Hillington Roundabout onto the A736 Hillington Road, then the first exit at the next roundabout to follow the A8 Glasgow Road westbound. Traffic will then follow Glebe Street and A741 Paisley Road/ Renfrew Road before taking the third exit at Abbotsinch Roundabout to re-join the M8 westbound.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable. This scheme will mark the completion of earlier works in these locations throughout 2024.
