M80 Between Junction 7-8 | Ground Investigation Works

M80 Junction 7-8
11th of April 2025, 8:00pm to 14th of April 2025, 6:00am

Lane closures will be in place on the M80 north of Haggs on the weekend of 11 to 14 April, to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to carry out ground investigation works.

There will be a reduced number of lanes available in the northbound direction on the motorway from 20:00 on Friday 11 April until 06:00 on Monday 14 April.

Motorists travelling northbound are advised to expect delays and allow additional time for journeys during this period.

The northbound hard shoulder will also be closed from 7 April to 18 April whilst one lane will also be closed in the southbound direction, overnight only, on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 April.

David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: “These ground investigation works are required to inform the design of a future gantry replacement project.

“It is essential for safety that we close lanes during the works, however we’ve scheduled them to be carried out over a single weekend working 24 hours a day in order to minimise disruption to journey times.

“We thank road users in advance for their patience and understanding while our teams carry out these works and recommend that they check the latest travel updates, plan ahead and allow extra travel time for their journeys during this period.”

Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
