The slip roads on and off the M876 northbound at Junction 1 Checkbar will be closed from 19:30 until 06:00 on the night of Monday 14 October, to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to repair defects in the carriageway.

Traffic wishing to join the M876 northbound at Junction 1 will be directed to join the M876 southbound to turn at M80 Junction 7 Haggs, before returning northbound on the M876. This diversion is expected to add approximately 8 minutes and 7 miles to affected journeys.

Traffic wishing to exit the M876 northbound at Junction 1 will be directed to continue northbound to turn at Junction 2, then return southbound to exit at the M876 Junction 1 southbound off-slip. This diversion is expected to add approximately 5 minutes and 4 miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “It is essential for the safety of road users and the workforce that we close these slip roads while we repair defects in the road surface, however we have scheduled the works at night when traffic is lightest.

“If you need to use this route on Monday night our advice is to plan ahead and allow some extra time for your journey.”
