UPDATE (28/06): There has been a change to the sequencing of closures during these works. The M90 northbound carriageway will now be closed on the nights of Friday 28 June and Monday 1 July, and the A985 Admiralty Roundabout and all slip roads at M90 Junction 1C will be closed on the nights of Tuesday 2 July and Wednesday 3 July. The M90 Junction 1C northbound on-slip will be closed on the night of Tuesday 9 July.

A four-night programme of overnight resurfacing works on the A985 Admiralty Roundabout and M90 Junction 1C northbound on-slip is set to commence at the end of June.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the works on the nights of Friday 28 June, Monday 1 July, Tuesday 2 July and Wednesday 3 July.

To ensure the safety of road users and the workforce, the A985 Admiralty Roundabout and all slip roads at M90 Junction 1C will be closed between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 each night.

The following diversion routes will be signposted:

  • Between the M90 northbound and Kings Road Roundabout on the A985, via the A823(M) and the B980
  • Between the M90 northbound and Inverkeithing, via the A823(M), Queensferry Road, Carnegie Avenue, Lapwing Drive, Aberdour Road and the B981
  • Between the M90 southbound and Kings Road Roundabout on the A985, via Junction 1B Ferrytoll, the B981 Milne Road, Millenium Avenue and Castle Road, continuing to and from Inverkeithing via Queensferry Road, Carnegie Avenue, Lapwing Drive, Aberdour Road and the B981.

On the night of Tuesday 2 July, the M90 northbound main carriageway will also be closed at Junction 1B Ferrytoll, with a diversion route to M90 Junction 2 Masterton signposted via the B981 Milne Road, Millenium Avenue, Castle Road, Queensferry Road and the A823(M). This diversion will add approximately 2.8 miles and 10 minutes to affected journeys.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will address and repair defects in the road surface such as potholes and cracks, creating safer and smoother journeys for motorists.

“It is essential for the safety of the workforce that we close the carriageway during these works, however we’ve scheduled them during overnight hours to minimise any disruption.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements.”
